The majority of Minnesota can be broken into 3 distinct biomes which are coniferous forest, prairie grasslands, and deciduous forest. Unfortunately, as Minnesota lands were developed, a separation occurred between nature and our “urban ecosystems”. Many of our homes and work places have no or minimal connection with nature. Our natural environment should be an important part of landscaping and should be embraced, not separated from us. Through sustainable or natural landscaping, elements of nature can be enchanced or infused back into our homes and lives.
