May Tree of the Month

Eastern white pine (Pinus strobus)

Eastern white pine is native to the eastern United States and is the largest conifer in Minnesota.  It commonly grows to 50-70 feet, but can grow as high as 100 feet.  Though EW Pine once dominated the woodlands, less than 1% of them remain due to extensive logging practices.   EW Pine can is a popular choice for Christmas trees due to its attractive nature and soft needles.
